VP Garcia Linera to Lunch with Chilean President

On June 24th a meeting between Bolivian Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera and Chilean President Seb Sebastián Piñera in the La Moneda Palace according to Bolivian Consul General Walker San Miguel. Linera is in Santiago de Chile for a “Power, State and Socialism” conference of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Carribbean. Bolivia and Chile have been thawing relations over the past several years and show increasing signs of diplomatic activity. Bolivian President Evo Morales attended Piñera’s inauguration and even played a friend soccer match with him and his ministers. At today’s meeting Garcia Linera will discuss Bolivia’s 13 point agenda with Chile aimed at obtaining a Bolivian route to the Pacific. The meeting will be an interesting one; Garcia Linera is a former marxist guerrilla and adamant socialist while Piñera is a Harvard educated billionaire.
