A recent court decision determined that the city of La Paz is the rightful occupant of the space but when mucipical officials attempted to enter on Monday to begin the “repossession” process, they were met with armed military personnel who barred their entry. The area, which has housed a naval school for many years, was contested by municipal officials when reports of unauthorized military activity in the school first arose. The Municipality of La Paz has issued a request for forceful removal but at present both sides continue claiming rightful occupation of the space.
