Posted: admin on Mar 30 | Law & Justice

In a join project between the Santa Cruz city government and department government called LIVE EYE the city of Santa Cruz has installed 10 public security cameras and plans to install a further 40 cameras to control city crime in the upcoming weeks. Governor Roly Aguilera has asked the police and federal prosecutors to work together on the new public security system with the goal of curbing crime in the city. The collaboration between the city and departmental government has given birth to the new Incident Center (CAI) which is relying on cell phone calls from neighborhood watch groups to launch rapid responses to crimes.Governor Aguilera explained that the CAI may develop into a 911 response center and handle other emergencies such as fires and public health alerts.  These two security projects has cost Santa Cruz Bs 700,000 ($100,000) and the video cameras will record 24 hours a day in strategic locations such as markets, city squares, surrounding suburbs and even drainage canals.
