On March 6th, the Bolivian anti-narcotics agency (FELCN) has discovered that drug trafficking networks are using the roads of Bolivia’s rural mennonite minority to transport cocaine ingredients such as cocaine paste and cocaine chlorohydrate to foreign countries. This discovery was provoked by a mysterious plane that crashed on a trail near the small colony “California 1″, some 200 km from Santa Cruz thought to be involved in the drug trade. “The jungle colonizers informed us that small aircraft of various makes land almsot every other day on the small mennonite roads where cargos are transferred to and from trucks,” said FELCN departmental director Colonel Jorge Romero.
The plane crashed at 6:30AM last Thursday because the wheels got stuck in a ditch on the side of the road. According to locals, at that same moment a red pickup truck tried to put the plane back on the road without success. Upon failing to recover the aircraft the truck took on the white and green Cessna Centurion’s two occupants and fled the scene. The plane was registered as Paraguayan with the number ZP-BAC. The group took the plane’s GPS, logbook and other instruments before leaving. The FELCN were informed of the crash and arrived at the scene but have not located anyone involved.
