MAS Candidate Promises La Paz Elevated Metro

On March 19th, Elizabeth Salguero,  a candidate for governor of La Paz for the Movement to Socialism (MAS) party promised to build “The Andean Suspended Metro” with five stops to help alleviate congestion in the city. The proposed elevated metro rail line will extend for 9.8 kilometers, have five stops, and take roughly 15 minutes to make the trip. Salguero said, “Its route will be from Camacho market to the first stop in Rosasani in front of the cemetary, then Obrajes, La Florida,  and the 28 Cota Cota street. “ Salguero informed the press that the metro will have two tracks that run above the subterrainian Choqueyapu river.  Salguero said that the metro will run on clean energy and natural gas and the project will be financed by the city and national government.  Salguero is one of many candidates in the La Paz mayoral elections and further declared that the fare to ride the proposed metro will be Bs. 1.5 ($.21).
