The Secretary of Race of the collaborative, Eneida Charupa, indicated that five indigenous communities in Santa Cruz will meet after the municipal and local elections on April 4th to begin drafting the law. “As the collaborative of the ethnic nations, we are examining how to work on a law in defense of the children of Bolivia, because the violence affects women, children, youths and adults,” she explained. Acccordingto Charupa, the aim is to reduce levels of violence against children that are generally exploited and mistreated–sometimes by their own parents who force them to work, preventing the children from studying. When this law is completed, it will be presented before the Confederation of Indigenous Communities of Bolivia to search for a national consensus. It will then be sent to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly—Bolivia’s national governing body. To learn more in Spanish: http://www.erbol.com.bo/noticia.php?identificador=2147483924727 |
