Bolivia’s GDP is expected to grow at a rate of 4 percent in 2010, according to the International Monetary Fund’s revised projections. The Bolivian economy has shown signs of relatively robust growth in the first-quarter of 2010, with exports rising, a well-controlled 3.3 percent inflation, and falling unemployment figures. The IMF had previously projected Bolivia’s GDP to grow by 3.5 percent, but the institution increased this figure in their “World Economic Outlook” report released this week. The IMF did comment on Bolivia’s balance of payments deficit, which amounts to 2.6 percent of GDP, although this is a small amount of debt compared to many developing countries and is not necessarily negative economic indicator.
