Government Bans Corn and Sorgum Exports

The government issued a supreme decree on Wednesday, February 24th to temporarily ban exports of corn and sorghum in order to lower domestic prices according to Minister of Rural Development and Land Nemesia Achacollo. Achacollo said, “The armed forces, the police and the customs officials are in charge of enforcing this supreme decree and seizing any contraband shipments to neighboring countries.  Seeing the great needs created by the rise in the price of chicken, corn and sorghum, the authorities have adopted this measure in defense of national interests.”
