In return the government will be providing funding to build two new classrooms and outfit chemical laboratories and install women’s restrooms. After weeks of violent opposition the school agreed to the court order allowing the girls admittance. Bolivar director Miguel Durán said, “The first thing that we will talk about with our students is that they learn to live with this new model that incorporates girls and that they feel safe.” They boys’ parents’ association signed the accord after barring the girls entrance for weeks and violently pushing them out of the school until the police had to break up the two girls with batons and tear gas.
