« Indigenous Groups Ask Evo to Heed Observations | Home | La Paz Announces Epidemic Alert for Bubonic Plague » Evo to Visit South KoreaPosted: admin on Aug 22 | Business & Economy, International On Wednesday, August 25th, President Evo Morales will fly to South Korea and meet with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in the first meeting between the leaders of these nations since ties were established in 1965. The leaders will sign an agreement relating to the mining and processing of lithium in the Salar de Uyuni involving the Korean state-run company Korea Sources Corporation which began talks in 2009. Morales will be accompanied by the president of the House of Representatives Hector Arce, Development and Planning Minister Viviana Caro, Public Works Minister Walter Delgadillo and the president of the Bolivian Mining Confederation Hugo Miranda. Another item on the agenda is the confirming of a loan for $200,000,000 to Bolivia over the next four years. Morales will also visit an LG lithium battery factory, the largest in the world. He will then be awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Hansei for his social acheivements and work for indigenous people in Bolivia.
