On June 14th, Ivan Canelas, spokesperson for President Evo Morales announced that the President had flown to South Africa on invitations from the government in Johannesburg and FIFA. Canelas explained that “other members” of this “delegation” were paying for all the costs of the trip. Canelas said criticism from the opposition for this trip was unjustified because the President was not going just for the World Cup but was also going to “meet with government authorities from this country.”
