The accident occurred at 1:30AM leaving 28 dead and 44 injured according to Radio Patria Nueva. The bus had 70 passengers traveling, well over the legal limit, and was traveling from Cochabamba to PotosÃ. The bus fell off the edge of the road near the dangerous Pongo K`asa section. The bus driver attempted to flee the scene, fearing arrest but was stopped by the passengers and arrested when the police arrived. The driver was given an alcolhol test and the results are not yet known. According to survivors the bus had been having brake trouble during the trip and the driver’s assistant had asked all the passengers to sit in the back because they were having brake problems.
