2.5 Metric Tons of Cocaine Paste Seized

Posted: admin on Mar 21 | Law & Justice, Uncategorized

On March 19 Bolivian police seized 2.560 kilos of cocaine paste in the Barrio Libertad area of Santa Cruz. The drugs had an estimated value of over five million dollars. Police raided a residence on Calle 2 in the early morning hours and detained 2 Peruvian nationals, one of whom possessed a 9mm pistol. In addition to the dozens upon dozens of bricks of cocaine police found a jeep with the seats removed to accomodate 22 large bricks of the drug. Police believe that this was a major staging center where cocaine paste was  for cocaine distributed to giant cristalization laboratories like the one recently dismanteled in Concepcion. Police believe that this site is linked to the Concepcion lab and that they are dealing with a foreign drug trafficking organization.

Throughout the morning police discovered three houses along with six vehicles and 3 motorcycles linked to the drug operation. Police ascertained that the cocaine paste had entered Bolivia from Peru inside of a tanker truck that drove on small back roads to avoid police checkpoints. Prosecutor Giovana Rivas assured that the houses raided will remain in police custody and the two captured Peruvians will be charged shortly. A representative of the Public Ministry explained that they have not identified the houses’ owners yet but believe that the gang was renting the houses. The dugs will be incinerated next week as mandated by Bolivian law.
